Description
Zenato's Amarone della Valpolicella was born in S. Ambrogio di Valpolicella, a hilly area on the Veronese side of Lake Garda, within the "Classico" area of Valpolicella.
It is mainly made with Corvina grapes and with Rondinella, Oseleta and Croatina grapes, harvested manually between the end of September and the beginning of October. After harvesting and careful selection, the grapes are left to rest in the fruit cellar for a period of about 3-4 months in wooden crates, taking care of the spacing between the bunches to encourage proper drying. The dried grapes are then crushed and macerated on the skins for 15-20 days at a temperature of 23-25 ° C. The wine is then aged in oak barrels for a minimum period of 36 months.
This Amarone has a full-bodied red color, tending to garnet with aging. The nose has an elegant, ethereal, warm and spicy scent, with hints of cherry and morello cherry, enriched with notes of dried fruit and plum. On the palate it is round and velvety. Overall it is a wine with a great structure, soft and enveloping.
Due to its characteristics, it is a meditation wine, to be drunk alone. It is however recommended in combination with roasts, game and aged cheeses.
