Description
This Amaro is the first liqueur of the Nonino distillery, born from the alchemical art of Nonino in Friuli Venezia Giulia, a region that is affected by the cultural influences of the different peoples who have crossed this borderland. Thanks to a deep knowledge of the herbs of the Friulian mountains as well as foreign botanicals, herbs, spices, fruit, berries and roots, it was possible to obtain Amaro del Friuli in its purest alchemical essence, so much so as to deserve the name of Quintessentia.
Initially made with grappa as an alcoholic base, today it is produced from the Nonino grape brandy which ages for at least 12 months in Limousin and Nevers barriques and small ex-Sherry barrels under the seal of the Customs Agency. The Igea Cup depicted on the label is a tribute to the origin of bitter as an ancient medicinal remedy.
It reveals itself to the eye with a concentrated amber color. Generous nose, focused on pleasant sensations of herbs and citrus notes. In the mouth it is harmonious, with a nice sweet-bitter mix, with hints of pepper and licorice on echoes of cocoa in the finish.
Excellent neat at the end of a meal, it can be tasted on ice cubes with a slice of orange or create excellent cocktails.
