Description

Michele Laluce's Aglianico del Vulture Le Drude is produced exclusively from Aglianico grapes, which grow within the Serra del Tesoro district, located in the municipality of Ginestra, in the province of Potenza. The name of the wine recalls the one attributed to the women of the brigands by the Piedmontese soldiers and celebrates their courage.

These grapes harvested by hand and pressed in steel, have intense and complex aromas, which are enriched during the long ageing, first for at least 2 years in oak barrels and then for 12 months in the bottle.

Aglianico del Vulture was born in a territory of volcanic origin rich in minerals, which is why it is so austere and structured as to be defined Barolo of the South; a red with great expectations that finds one of its highest expressions in Le Drude. The ruby red color only hints at its greatness: the nose releases a full, magmatic and deep perfume with a pleasant ferrous evidence; noble vegetal tones give way to greedy tones of black berries (blueberry, blackberry and currant) and after a pause in the glass a vague marine recall emerges. Also great in structure and on the palate, a red full of energy and strength, and an austerity and tannin worthy of great wines for ageing.

How to best match it? Try it with aged cheeses, roasted and grilled meats, or let yourself be tempted and prepare the tastiest specialties of Basilicata, from Crapiata legume soup to tasty sauces with sausage and cruschi peppers.
