Description
The Longview Yakka is a 100% Shiraz produced in the eastern part of Australia known as Adelaide Hills.
After harvesting, the grapes are first vinified with fermentation at low temperatures and post-fermentation maceration for tannic extraction. Malolactic fermentation follows at the end of which the wine is aged for 15 months in 20% new French oak barrels before being bottled.
Ruby red in color with violet reflections, it releases hints of raspberry, white pepper and tertiary leather, coffee and bitter cocoa to the nose. The medium intensity in the body suggests a good structure with the right balance between tannic and acid components. The finish is medium-long with a pleasant spicy sensation.
Wine suitable for complex red meats, stews or grilled meats. It also goes well with spicy legume soups.
