Description
Craigellachie 13 Years is one of the recent single malts that the distillery has decided to release from 2014, instead of allocating them to the more well-known blended Dewar's whiskey. These Speyside whiskeys, all part of the series called "The Last Great Malts on Scotland" are the result of a production method halfway between the solidity of tradition and the new opportunities offered by modernity. Still in use are traditional worm tubs, stills whose vapors are cooled in order to bring out a characteristic sulphurous note that originates from raw materials and the distillation process.
Straw yellow colored whiskey tending to golden, it has a rich and complex aroma with notes of apple and apricot that are based on sweet sensations of honey, vanilla and cinnamon, on a bed of woody and malt aromas. In the mouth it proves deliciously fruity, with a spaced aftertaste of good persistence.
Excellent to sip both smooth and on ice cubes.
