Haut-médoc
Haut – Médoc AOC, is located south of the Médoc appellation and covers an area of 4,800 hectares. Its territory includes 6 appellations of great prestige: Margaux, Moulis, Listrac, Saint-Julien, Pauillac and Saint-Estèphe. The soils are characterized by soils rich in pebbles, which rest on a clay-limestone substrate.
The most cultivated grapes are cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc, petit verdot and malbec. Only red wines are produced, which have a great ageing potential. When young, Haut – Médoc AOC wines have important tannins and reach their maturity only after many years of ageing, to become excellence of absolute level. They express a bouquet of great complexity and aromatic depth, with important body and structure. The red wines of the Haut – Médoc AOC are among the most famous and sought after wines in the world.
