Aloxe-corton
Aloxe-Corton is a village located at the northern end of the Côte de Beaune, in Burgundy, divided between the municipalities of Aloxe-Corton and Ladoix-Serrigny. Except for a small percentage of Chardonnay-based white wines, the wines with the Aloxe-Corton appellation are generally red produced from Pinot Noir grapes. The second part of the name, Corton, was added later to draw attention to the hills of Corton who so attract the attention of Burgundy wine experts.
Within Aloxe-Corton, in fact, there are three exceptional villages that over time have conquered their own appellation: Corton, Corton-Charlemagne and Charlemagne. The vineyards that are located in particularly suitable areas can boast the additional mention Premier Cru, while Aloxe-Corton wines made from grapes from a single vineyard are allowed to bear the name of the same on the label.
