Der Prosecco ist einer der erfolgreichsten italienischen Weine und einer der Botschafter des Made in Italy. Er wird aus der Glera-Traube gewonnen und nach der Charmat-Methode (zweiter Gärung im Autoklaven) hergestellt, wodurch die blumigen und fruchtigen Aromen, die ihn charakterisieren, besonders zur Geltung kommen.
Der Prosecco wird sowohl als Weiß- als auch als Roséwein hergestellt, und zwar in den Varianten Brut, Extra Dry und Dry, also von der trockensten bis zur süßesten Variante, je nach Restzuckergehalt.

Das Anbaugebiet des Prosecco ist sehr weitläufig und erstreckt sich über Venetien und Friaul-Julisch Venetien. Die qualitative Spitze des Prosecco bilden die Weine, die auf den wunderschönen Hügeln von Conegliano und Valdobbiadene, einem Unesco-Weltkulturerbe, und in der Unterzone Cartizze, einem kleinen Anbaugebiet von nur 108 Hektar, erzeugt werden.
